Website Audience Research

In order to create a successful website, I needed to include what my target audience wanted to see. I created a SurveyMonkey so that I could find out and research their needs.

My results show that the audience that answered my survey were between the ages of 18 and 24. As this is the age of my target audience, the results from the survey will more accurate and helpful when it comes to making my website appeal to the right audience.

These results show that the respondents were predominantly female, which again is the gender of my primary target audience. This means that my website should appeal to mainly female viewers.

For this question in my survey, I added 'Cornish' as a response so that I could see how many of the people who answered were interested in a Cornish regional magazine website in particular. 100% of the responses were 'Cornish', which means that I will need to include content that will represent them. The reason for this ethnic group being selected the most is probably because I shared my survey on Facebook, and the majority of my friends are from Cornwall.

From this graph, I am able to see that my target audience is between C1 and C2 in terms of their social grade. Again, the lack of range could be because of the people who filled out my survey from my friends on Facebook. I will have to take this into consideration when creating my magazine so that I include content that these social grades will be interested in.

Probably because of the lack of diversity in Cornwall, these results are very unbalanced. Nevertheless, I will make sure that my magazines is aimed primarily at heterosexual females so that I can portray my audience precisely. 

The colours the audience want to see of my website are black, white and cream. This is probably because the class of audience will want to see more elegant and fashionable colours on the website.

The text style that my audience want to see is sophisticated. Again, this is probably because of the class of the audience and they want to see elegant and feminine fonts.

The target audience want to see stories about fashion, lifestyle and events/entertainment on the website. This means I will have to include stories about these areas so that the content of the website will appeal to and interest the target audience.

These results show that speed, navigation and genre is important to the audience. It's important the the website is easy to navigate, so it will need to have a fairly simple layout. The audience want the website to represent the genre well so that the content appeal so them. Additionally, it's important that the webpages don't take too long to load because the audience won't want to wait very long for the content to appear.

My audience said that they would rather see images over video. This means I will have to include mainly images throughout the website.
